Quba Mosque, Madinah

The Quba mosque is located in the south-west of Medina. Its present dome was said to have been the blessed place where the she-camel of the Messenger of Allah SAW knelt first down. There is an old stone inscribed in Kufic script that shows the history of reconstruction of this important Mosque by one of the Ashraf (the descendants of the Prophet) written in the year 435H. The indoor section of the mosque is in the form of several domes, and it had six galleries. It is located about half an hour of moderate walk away from the Holy Prophet's Mosque.

The Prophet SAW himself has joined his companions in the building process, and then it was renewed by the third Caliph Uthman ibn Affan RA where he added to it. Then it was further renewed by the Caliph Omar bin Abdul Aziz, when he was the prince of Medinah, and he constructed the minaret, between the years 87 to 93H. In the year 435H the mosque was supplied by the Prayer niche "Mihrab". In the year 555H the mosque was renewed by Kamal al-Din al-Isfahani, and then its building was renewed several times in the years 671 – 733 – 840 - 881H at the time of the Ottoman Empire. The latest renovation took place in the era of Sultan Mahmud II and his son Sultan Abdul Majid in the year 1245H at the time of the Ottoman Empire.
